NPSC's Renewable Fellowships

Conditions

Continuation of the NPSC Fellowship (Traditonal and Dissertaton Support) requires the following conditions to be met:

  • Satisfactory academic progress toward the Ph.D. as determined by the NPSC member university attended.
  • Full-time attendance as determined by the university.
  • Continuing eligibility for employment with the sponsoring employer. This includes continuing pursuit of a degree in a field of interest to the employer, satisfactory on-the-job performance at the sponsoring employer's worksite, maintenance of required security clearances, and other appropriate requirements.

Fellows entering with an undergraduate degree:

The fellowship is a two-phase, six-year fellowship program. Initial support is for two or three years. If satisfactory progress is made and the conditions of the award are maintained, support may continue for a total of up to six years, or to the Ph.D., whichever comes first. Students typically apply while seniors in college.

Fellows entering with a terminal master's degree: (The institution does not offer a Ph.D. in the student's discipline.)

  • For completion of graduate work, all work for a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) will be completed within four years.

Fellows receiving dissertation support:

  • NPSC support continues for up to four years, or to the Ph.D., whichever comes first, providing that the conditions set forth above are met.
