NPSC introduces the graduate science and engineering departments of its member universities to the most promising Ph.D.-bound students in the country. Open to all U. S. citizens, NPSC makes a special effort to recruit women and underrepresented minorities. For an agreement on the part of the university to cover tuition and fees, a student receives substantial support from a major corporation, laboratory, or government agency. Thus the NPSC facilitates tripartite cooperation among students, universities, and the private or government sector.
